Yogesh Kumar

M.B.B.S, MS (General Surgery), MRCS, MD (Research), FRCS (General Surgery) 

Mr Kumar specialise in Laparoscopic General and Upper GI surgery with specific area of interest in Gallstone disease, Abdominal wall and groin hernia, Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and Hiatus hernia. He also remove lumps and bumps in the body and carry out keyhole surgery for Acute Appendicitis and ruptured stomach or duodenal ulcers.

About me

Mr Kumar have been a Substantive Consultant Upper GI Surgeon at the Sandwell Hospital, West Birmingham since 2017 and his area of interest and expertise is in Acid-Reflux disease, Hiatus hernia and Abdominal wall reconstruction for incisional hernia. He, currently, carries out majority of his private practice at the Spire Little Aston Hospital, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.

 

His basic medical qualification and surgical training was in India with further advanced surgical training in various hospitals in Yorkshire where he developed interest and expertise in keyhole operations for gallstone problems, abdominal wall. He consolidated this experience with a year of training in an established UGI cancer and Bariatric unit at Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham, Hull before getting specialist GMC registration.

 

​He dedicated 2 years of his professional career in Surgical research in the field of Pancreatic cancer and obtained higher MD research degree from UCL, London in 2009. He has several publications in the peer reviewed journals with various presentations related to his field of interest and research at national and international level. 

He is a Clinical Research and Audit lead in Surgery at his NHS Trust. He is also the Training and Education lead support for British Benign Upper GI Surgical Society (BBUGSS). He is a member of Association of Upper GI Surgeons (AUGIS), Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ALSGBI) and British Hernia Society.
